Sunday 2nd XI and Midweek Captains Report for 2009
Sunday 2nd XI
2009 was a very enjoyable season as captain of the Sunday 2nds. We
won 10, lost 5 with 4 matches cancelled and one rained off. We
used 46 batsmen and 33 bowlers over the season. We were mainly a
young side apart from myself, Stuart Helps, Ade Johnson and Kevin
D'Silva.
Thanks to Norman Wilby and Andy Harris for their efforts on the
ground and to John Pengelly for organising bar cover. Thanks for
Ade and Stuart for their help throughout the season both on and
off the field and to Maria, Bev and Rosie for helping with the
teas.
Special thanks to Graham Fryer for umpiring and also to his wife
Margaret for scoring on numerous occasions. It was a big help
to have their help especially as very few adults played each week.
The youngsters did really well and the team spirit was
superb. Special mention to young Jordan Helps who came into the
side mid-way through the season and did well and showed a lot of
promise for the future. Luke Stafford bowled well and youngsters
Josh Whitehead, Frank Johnson, Joe Payne, Alex O'Dell and Ryan
Freshwater did well.
I hope to captain again in 2010 unless injuries prevent me from
doing so but soon we need to find another Sunday 2nd Captain as
age is catching up with me sadly after captaining the side for
many years.
Midweek 2009
We only played 4 games winning 1, drawing 2 and losing
1. Availability wasn't great and Jonny Cater's 169n.o. at Bicester
was abit special. Thanks to those who supported me in the midweek
games.
As Fixture Secretary a special mention to Ade Johnson who attended
the Bucks youth fixture meeting as I was unavailable. This help
was much appreciated.
