Buckingham Town Maidens Regional Champions
On Tuesday 10th August Buckingham Town Maidens competed in the
Lady Taverners Regional U13 Outdoor Finals. With the rain falling
steadily in Bournemouth normal play was impossible so the
competition was to be decided on a serious of bowl outs between
the teams. Two balls per bowler with the whole squad having to
bowl highest number of wickets taken would decide the
match. Nerve-racking for both the coaches and parents the Maidens
held their nerve winning against Devon, Gloucestershire,
Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Somerset.
A great team effort by all involved but a special mention must go
to Emma Measey taking first ball wickets in the sudden death part
of two matches!
The squad now go on to represent the South and West in the
National Finals in Shropshire on Thursday 26th August.
Prizes were presented by Lydia Greenway who was part of the
England Women's winning world cup cricket team and is pictured

John Bercow Visit
John Bercow visited Buckingham Town
cricket Club last Friday evening and enjoyed seeing both the girls
and the under 10 boys training sessions.
He was very impressed with the set-up, the groups and the standard
that all of the children displayed on the evening.
He briefly joined the under 10 practice after encouragement from
the young players and their coach Adrian Freeman.
He is very supportive of the planned developments at the club and
will return soon to see how the practice is turned into
performance in a match.
