Cricket Force 2005
The weekend of 2nd and 3rd April was CricketForce weekend at Buckingham Town Cricket Club. It was an opportunity to ensure that most if not all odd jobs were done in preparation for the start of the new season and that everywhere was clean and tidy.

Jobs such as erecting the safety net, painting the sight screen, painting both the score box and the umpire's executive changing facility were completed outside the clubhouse.

Inside, the clubhouse was given a thorough clean with the old team photographs being put back in the County Bar as well as all glasses and shelves being washed and the club's newly purchased barbecue being assembled.

A mention of all those who made all this possible:-

Andy Harris co-ordinated the effort of those working outside and also erected the safety fence.
Tim Archdeacon spent his time painting the Bourton Road sight screen, ably assisted at various times by Matt Arnull, Bryn Jones, Neville Pritchard and others
Neville Pritchard also polished the shutters and the counter at the bar, they actually blind you now
Andy Thatcher assisted in erecting the safety fence and took ten minutes to assemble the barbeque
Brian Dipple painted the score box
Bob Hutt ordered the rubbish skip, and filled it, painted the umpire's changing room
John Pengelly led the inside workforces and re-covered the shelves behind the bar.
Ben Stafford despite his bad back, washed the internal walls and doors and hovered the County Bar.
Dominic Pritchard and Matt Dipple painted whatever needed painting and helped everywhere.
Mike Taylor with the help of his boys, cleaned the white chairs in readiness of the bumper crowds we expect this season
Sarah Taylor took an inventory of the first aid kit, installed the fairy lights behind the bar
Karen & Andy Cater collected the barbecue and accessories, helped to assemble the barbecue and even performed surgery on their own barbecue to ensure that ours works
Jonny, Callum & Ben Cater and Robin Pritchard did whatever they were asked to do and whatever they could do
Steve Kefford has photographic evidence of all the above activity, so no one can deny it.
Norman Wilby set a new record for keeping his hands in his pockets, Guinness Book of Records have been notified.
Lorna Stafford & Jackie Harris special thanks from everybody for feeding and watering the troops throughout the two days, thank you ladies.
I hope I've included all those who contributed to such a worthwhile and fun weekend, but I apologise if I've left you out.

The above is not an exhaustive list of everything performed by those individuals as everybody did what needed to be done and helped wherever they could.

My thanks to all those involved in what was a successful weekend where much good work was done and many time consuming jobs were completed.

I'm sure there will be a similar event next year when we look forward to seeing many more members and other volunteers.

It is beginning to look like the ground we all know and love.

Graham Stearn
Chairman BTCC.
