SEVEN WICKET WIN IS TAYLOR-MADE FOR SKIPPER

Newly promoted Town 2nd X1 had the best possible start to the season when they achieved a comfortable seven wicket win against Didcot.
Although fielding three new signings, it was regulars Ryan Spragg and Neil Heavisides who did the early damage with the ball as Didcot struggled to gain any momentum. Heavisides with 3-45 was supported well with a sixteen over spell from Spragg costing only 39 runs.
With the score on 86 at the half way stage, last year's leading wicket taker Paul Sly came into the attack and immediately picked up 3 wickets including that of opener Oakey who had reached 57.
Newcomer, Annant Preshavaria added a new option to the attack taking 3 - 28 from six overs including two catches by Kev Richardson who also ended the day with four victims.
Set a target of 147, last year's opening pair of Taylor and Talsania got off to a good start although Talsania was caught behind with the score on twenty five. Ed Jones immediately attacked the bowling and having made a rapid 20 was brilliantly caught in the outfield.
With the score on 58 -3, Nick Board was joined by Aussie Mark Munnings and together they began to buid a partnership as Didcot became desperate for wickets.
Munnings decided to attack the bowling and with some additional quick running between the wickets, hit his first half century for the Club and between them this pair put on ninety runs to reach the target with twenty overs to spare.
Skipper Mike Taylor commented " This was a great start for us and it was good to see valuable contributions from not only our existing players, but also from those who are new to the club and in their first season with us."
