Town suffered a 61-run defeat when they lost at Challow and Childrey on Saturday.
The hosts elected to bat after winning the
toss and Julian Penny (51) and Australian Ashley Holtznagel (62) put Town bowlers to the
sword by punishing any loose deliveries.
Once Bryn Jones introduced his new spin
attack of Chris Dalkin and Dan Harris bowling in tandem, wickets fell. What looked like
Town chasing in excess of 240 finished with Chris Board taking a catch in the last over to
see the home side post 190 all out.
Dan Harris finished with 4 for 50 while
Dalkin bagged 3 for 23.
Bryn Jones injured a knuckle in the field and
was forced to bat down the order.
Challow kept the old ball and Nigel Hill and
David Slade proceeded to bowl a very tight line.
Town lost early wickets and were soon 42 for
5 - three of the dismissals being caught and bowled as a result of some erratic bounce.
Skipper Jones (26) and Matthew Thatcher (34)
both batted well before late order runs by Jason Ell (16) saw Town to 129 before they were
dismissed.
