Town 2nd X1 lost their home game against Challow in a low scoring match played in wet conditions.
Challow won the toss and elected to bat first on a sodden wicket and opening bowlers Mark James and Neil Heavisides bowled well to restrict the visitors by bowling a good line and collecting three wickets between them. With three regular bowlers unavailable, Adam Izzard playing his first game of the season came into the attack, and produced an economical spell of twelve overs for 26 runs.
With Challow needing to accelerate the run rate, the situation was ideally suited for Paul Sly who picked up his first five wicket haul of the season, including two stumpings by Kev Richardson.
With six over remaining, Challow had been bowled out for 134.
Openers Taylor and Talsania found it difficult to attack the bowling as the wicket dried out although following Taylor's dismissal, Ed Jones struck a breezy 29 to relieve the pressure.
A collapse then followed when Town lost Jones and their complete middle order in quick succession when five wickets were lost for sixteen runs, including the needless run out of Nick Board attempting a third run.
Neil Heavisides and Paul Sly then worked hard to repair the damage adding a further thirty runs until Heavisides was given out LBW for 19 and with it Town's real chance of victory. Kev Richardson joined Sly to gain another batting point but Town were all out with the score on 107.
Mike Taylor commented "This was a disappointing performance in a game we should have won easily, but all credit to our bowlers who enabled us to collect a valuable 14 points"
