Amersham shock defeat

Buckingham Town suffered a disappointing defeat at bottom placed Amersham  by nine wickets on Saturday.

James Gear's side travelled to the south of the county missing several regulars and were invited to bat after losing the toss.

Chris Board was again in the runs as he batted 112 minutes for a dogged 41 runs and he found Gear (15) good support.

Tarun Nethula looked in good form as he accumilated 37 runs in 38 minutes before he was caught out just three minutes before lunch.

Anthony Romaine helped take his side on with a grafted 21 before Town were dismissed for 176 in the 54th over.

Amersham's opening pair played positive shots from the start and soon raced past the half century mark.

Stepenson was caught by Steve Beck off the bowling of Gear for 31 with 93 runs on the scoreboard.

John Atkins was aggressive and continued to play his shots, dispite some good fortune, as he made fifty from just 47 balls.

Gear used six bowlers in his attempt to break the second-wicket partnership but Atkins, along with Robertson (21), took his side to victory. The left-hander finished unbeaten on 97 from just 85 balls.
