Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Brackley

Having lost the toss, Town were put into bat and openers Shiv Talsania(21) and Andy Thatcher(49) got the home side off to a great start sharing a ninety run partnership which included a number well run singles. Valuable contributions from the middle order of Arnull (20), Valambhia (22) and Murray (22) maintained the momentum until they were bowled out for 194 in the last over before tea. Brackley's Newby claimed 6-68 from his 20 overs.

In reply, Brackley started their innings cautiuously with eight out of the first fourteen overs being maidens. When Suresh Talsania took the first wicket, Cartwright (22) looked dangerous as he tried to force the pace but he was bowled when off spinner Pritchard was introduecd into the attack. Hedger (75) was batting solidly and with twenty overs remaining, Brackley were in control needing ninety runs to win with six wickets in hand. Matt Arnull and Ryan Spragg bowled a tight line and length and as Brackley looked to accelerate Murray took a superb catch in the covers to remove Hedger.Town continued to respond positively with the bowling supported by some lively fielding, including a leg side stumping by keeper Thatcher. Wickets began to fall as the pressure increased on the batting side with Arnull continuing to bowl an accurate off stump line. As a result, Brackley became uncertain whether to go for the win or bat out for a draw and when Talsania bowled last man Newby they had tumbled out for 162 losing their last six wickets for thirty runs.
