After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, we kept Great
Houghton's total down to 52, and bowled them out in the 15th
over. Matt Faulkner bowled exceptionally well taking 4 wickets,
with John Smith taking 3, and Matt Rowlingson also taking 3.
With a big change in the batting order, we eased our way to
victory after just 9 overs with Matt Warren being the big hitter
with 28.
Overall, the team played well with a deserved victory.
Buckingham Town U13 vs Old Bradwell
Ollie Collins writes:
Town U13s progressed to their second semi final of the season by
beating Old Bradwell at home in the Bucks U13 league.
Buckingham lost the toss and were asked to bat first, scoring a
creditable 115-5 off 20 overs. Toby O'Neill made a swift 20 before
being bowled, Adam Bone punished Bradwell for a dropped catch with
19 runs and Jack Robbins made an excellent 20 not out. Callum
Cater (11) and Ollie Collins (10) played useful supporting
innings. O'Neill and Cater each hit a six.
In response Bradwell could only manage 86 - 6. Town had the match
effectively won by restricting the visitors to 33 for 2 in their
first 10 overs, thanks to tight bowling, particularly by Ben
Sutton and joint man of the match Cater (2-10 from 4 overs), an
award shared with O'Neill. O'Neill then made sure by taking 4-12
from 4, helped by quick responses in the field from the Town team,
including an athletic diving catch from Collins.
Buckingham Town U13 vs Earls Barton
Tom Jones writes:
Town under 13s cruised to a comprehensive victory at Preston
Bissett on the 18th of July winning their U14 Shires league match
by a commanding margin of 241 runs.
After winning the toss town elected to bat. Openers Nick Wilkes
and Jamie Hirst got off to a flying start making a very good first
wicket partnership of 66, with Hirst eventually falling for
36. Dilshan Direkze then came to the crease making a sharp knock
of 32 including some very good quick singles. By this point Wilkes
had made a very attractive 50 and was going along nicely. Harsh
Jethra arrived on the scene in style hitting a wonderful knock of
51 not out. Once Wilkes was out for 85, Jethra was supported by
Stuart Powell (5), Tom Jones (14) and Max Jarman (17 not out) who
enabled Town to post a massive total of 283-5 from their allotted
40 overs.
This was always going to be hard total to chase and Earls Barton
didn't get off to a very good start. They were soon pegged back to
14-5 by pacy spells from opening bowlers Direkze (2 for 16) and
Jethra (3 for 5 from 3 overs). Then Alex Guntert (0-4 from 3) and
Jarman (2-15) bowled a good line and length to keep up the
pressure. Jones took a smart catch and combined with Wilkes for a
run out before Hirst bowled the last man as the visitors subsided
to 42 all out.
Wilkes and Jethra shared man of the match and Jones took the
fielding award.
