Chesham vs Buckingham Town U13
Bucks Cup Semi Final
Nick Wilkes writes:
On 2nd July Town's U13s travelled down to Chesham for the
semi-final of the Bucks Cup.
Town won the toss and chose to bat. A speedy opening stand of 30
by Nick Wilkes (20) and Toby O'Neill was followed by a mini
collapse of 4 wickets for eight runs which slowed down the run
rate and put the pressure back on Buckingham. Useful knocks from
Jack Deal and Dilshan Direkze supported man of the match Adam Bone
(28 not out), who accelerated towards the end of the innings and
took the score to a defendable 108-6.
Town took to the field looking to keep the runs down and take
early wickets. They bowled reasonably tightly but some good
Chesham batting had taken the score to 46 when the first wicket
fell. Josh Goff (2-22) got the first breakthroughs but the runs
continued to come and Chesham began the final over needing just 2
runs to win. O'Neill (1-9) bowled the final over. He bowled a good
line and length and was unlucky to go for 2 runs off the third
ball of the over which finished the game and put Buckingham out of
the Cup.
It was a very close game and everyone played their part. We hope
to be more successful in other competitions.
