Buckingham Town U13 vs Beaconsfield
Chris Wilkes writes:
Town U13s suffered their second semi final disappointment of the
month, losing by 16 runs at Beaconsfield in the play-offs for the
Bucks U13 league championship.
The home side batted first and were held to just 106-6 in their 20
overs, largely thanks to economical four over spells from off
spinners Toby O'Neill (1-12) and Nick Wilkes (2-16) and under 12
quick bowler Callum Cater (1-15). The fielding was also mostly
tight, with Alex Guntert standing out.
But Town's batting let them down. There were two high spots - a
vigorous 30 retired from Dilshan Direkze and a fighting eighth
wicket stand between Cater and Jack Thompson, which brought
victory close with the score on 90 and 5 overs remaining, before
Thompson was unluckily given out LBW. Despite the modest target,
the rest of the batting seemed a little impatient. Usually solid
defenders tried to push at good balls and normally reliable
callers had three run out muddles.
