Winslow vs Buckingham U13
Nick Wilkes writes:
Buckingham travelled to Winslow for the quarterfinal of the County
U13 Cup. Buckingham lost the toss and were put in. After the loss
of an early wicket Toby O'Neill (23) and Josh Goff (33 not out)
got Buckingham's innings off to a flyer, but there were five
wickets down and nearly half the overs remaining when joint men of
the match Jack Deal (26) and Tom Jones (28 not out) came together
for a crucial partnership. They played themselves in safely before
resuming the momentum to ensure Town posted a big total. Town kept
up the 7 runs per over scoring rate and ended their innings with
an impressive 143-6.
Winslow got off to a good start with Callum Price (30 not out)
hitting two huge sixes and sharing in an opening stand of
37. Town's bowlers did not get disheartened and kept bowling a
good line and length. Goff had an excellent spell of 2-1 and Harsh
Jethra also got a well deserved wicket. Callum Cater also bowled
very well with three tight overs and Jack Thompson had another
good day in the field, taking a catch and stopping everything that
came his way. Pick of the bowlers was Nick Wilkes who, with the
assistance of three stumpings by Jones, finished off the Winslow
tail with 5 wickets for 1 run including four in a row!
Buckingham are now through to the semi-final and with more
excellent all round performances like this one, they could easily
go all the way.
