Buckingham Town U13 vs Olney
Tom Jones writes:
Buckingham U13s defeated a determined Olney effort by 9
runs. After Town won the toss, the openers were out cheaply before
Stuart Powell hit a 6 and six 4s in a quick fire 32 to lead the
recovery with first Tom Jones (17) and then man of the match Jack
Thompson, who played fluently for 27 not out despite cracking his
bat. After Powell retired, Josh Goodey (8) helped Town to reach
118 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.
Olney got off to a good start before Josh Goff and Toby O'Neill
removed the openers on 20, Goff bowling a peach of a delivery
which took the top of off stump. Then Olney scored quickly until
Goodey ended a stand of 33 and Jones ran out the next man with a
direct hit from the boundary. The runs slowed as further wickets
fell to Ben Austin, Richard Collett (2-3), O'Neill (2-25) and
Goodey, who was the pick of the bowlers with 2-6 in 4 overs. There
were good catches from Goff and Thompson and an exceptional one
from Powell at leg slip, as Olney ended on 109-9.
Buckingham Town U12 vs Cublington
Jonny Cater writes:
Buckingham Town Under 12's entertained Cublington in the Bucks
League. Winning the toss Buckingham put Cublington into bat. The
damp artificial wicket proved tricky at times but some fine
bowling restricted Cublington to 62 all out. Pick of the bowlers
was George Stephenson ripping through three batsmen, giving away
only 2 runs from his two overs. Other wicket takers were Steven
Brunning(2) Jack Deal(2) Adam Bone(1) Antonio Aguilar-Rohan(1) and
a run out. In reply Buckingham reached the target in 12 overs
using only three batsmen. Top scorer was Alex Walters (19 no), other
runs coming from Tom Hill (17 no) & Callum Cater (14).
