Buckingham Under 15s vs Middleton Cheney

Buckingham u15s got their season off with a flyer with a comfortable win over Middleton Cheney, reports Jonny Cater.

The artificial wicket was very wet causing some problems for the game ahead. Buckingham won the toss and put Cheney into bat. The openers struggled early on with good bowling from Dilshan Direkze and Krish Talsania. Talsania bowling very economically, putting the batsmen under pressure and also getting a key wicket.

Finally Dilshan got his reward, bowling the key man out for a low score. Cheney never found a way back after that wicket fell as they struggled for the rest of the innings. Elliot Hirons and Chris Horsler also bowled very economically, putting the batsmen under pressure all the time.

The spinners did a great job with the ball, making it turn off a very wet wicket. Ben Stafford bowled with precision and got a very important wicket which was stumped by the keeper Jonny Cater. Nick Wilkes was the pick of the bowlers getting a well-earned hat-trick. Well done Nick.

Matthew Cox and Danny Murray had an over each at the end finishing off the innings and the visitors were restricted to 50. A good effort in the field.

Buckingham knew that they couldn't be complacent as anything could happen on this wicket. The openers Jonny Cater and K Talsania found it difficult to start with but got into their rhythm back quickly to put pressure on the fielding side. Talsania went for a big hit and paid the price, he finished on 8.

Chris Horsler came to the crease and straight away showed his hitting capabilities. He hit a big six into Cow corner, which somewhat finished the game. Chris hitting the winning run. Chris finished on 12 n.o and Jonny finishing on a well fought out 24 n.o.

A great win guys and keep up the team spirit!

Chris Wilkes adds:
Entering the South Northants league for the first time, Town under 15s started with a comfortable 9 wicket win against Middleton Cheney at Bourton Rd. Tight bowling and fielding restricted the visitors to 50 for 9, with paceman Dilshan Direkze taking 2-5 and off spinner Nick Wilkes 4-6 including a hat-trick. Matt Cox, Krishan Talsania and Ben Stafford each claimed a wicket. Town coasted home with 7 overs to spare, with Jonny Cater making 24 not out, supported by Talsania and Chris Horsler (whose six was the only boundary of the game!).
