Buckingham Town vs Shipton-Under-Wychwood
Andy Bone writes:
An unbeaten match winning stand of 95 runs between Jeetan Patel
and James Gear secured Buckingham Town a six-wicket victory over
the Cricketer National Village Champions, Shipton-Under-Wychwood,
on Saturday.
With the game finely poised, Patel and Gear eased Town to victory
with a display of sensible strokeplay in a game sponsored by
Buckingham Colour Press.
Patel, who reached his half century from 56 balls in 64 minutes,
found Gear a solid support.
The Kiwi finished 65 not out from his 90 minute stay at the
crease, while the former Town Skipper ended his knock unbeaten on
38 runs.
Earlier in the day, Town started their campaign brightly on a damp
track after losing the toss.
Paul Streater 2 for 28 and Chris Harris 1 for 14 did the early
damage, despite the damp pitch causing foot hole problems. This
was supported by some excellent work in the field.
Jason Ell exploited the conditions to swing the ball and cause the
opposition batsmen problems. His ten overs were economical as he
finished with 2 for 27 with Shipton reaching the century mark with
seven wickets down.
Gear picked up 2 for 47 in 8 overs while Patel bowled well on his
debut as his 15.5 overs returned with 3 for 38.
Shipton were bowled out for 157 from the penultimate ball of their
innings.

Buckingham 3rd XI vs Kingston Bagpuize 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham 3rd's debut in division 8 of the Cherwell League
saw them crash to a 10 wicket defeat to a strong Kingston Bagpuize 2nd XI who won the toss
and put Buckingham into bat
Buckingham with a young side with only three players older than 22 struggled from the start.
They were dismissed for only 63 with only acting skipper Bob Hutt(11) reaching double
figures !!
14-year old Krishen Talsania showed promise with the bat.
Kingston won easily without losing a wicket with young bowlers L.DeSilva, D. Direkze,
and K. Talsania showing promise.
Buckingham's youngsters showed a lot of promise for the future but were no match
for a very experienced Kingston side who will be promotion favourites this season.
