Buckingham U13 vs North Crawley
Dilshan Direkze writes:
Buckingham under 13s put in a fine effort to win a well fought second round
cup match against North Crawley at Preston Bissett. Entering the match as
possible underdogs (having lost to the same opponents in the last three
seasons), Buckingham won the toss and opted to field. In the first over
Dilshan Direkze had one of their key batsmen out for a duck with the help of
a reflex slip catch by Josh Goff. Then a valuable partnership started to
build and was broken by Man of the Match Max Jarman, who finished with
figures of 3-22. The other wickets were shared around by Direkze 2-16, Nick
Wilkes 2-23, Toby O'Neill (with his only ball) and under 12 Callum Cater.
The other under 12 in the side, Alex Walters, looked impressive in the field
taking a nice catch and combining for a runout with keeper Tom Jones, who
also took a sharp stumping chance. In addition there were two good catches
by Direkze and one by Wilkes as North Crawley were dismissed for 100, a
relatively easy target to get off 20 overs.
Buckingham started off well with a good opening partnership of 35 by O'Neill
and Wilkes which included a six by O'Neill. Stuart Powell also hit a massive
six but unfortunately was dismissed second ball! Direkze then hit 19 and was
backed up by Walters who played solidly. Two wickets then fell due to some
good tight bowling but Jones and Harsh Jethra batted sensibly to ensure
victory with 3 overs remaining.
