Tompkins efforts were remembered, both on and off the field, for over sixty years for a Town clubman who passed away over a decade ago. After a toast, Town batted first and were soon in trouble as ex-Town 1st XI Skipper Carl Nichols, now playing at Sparsholt in Hampshire, combined with Stuart Helps as the pair had the hosts reeling at 23 for 4. Matthew Thatcher steadied the innings briefly before departing, having scored 22 of the 33 runs on the board. Graham Judd and Jonny Cater shared a stand of 58 for the sixth wicket that helped take Town away from trouble, despite a spell on the sidelines for a heavy shower. Cater (35) was caught before Shiv Talsania (15) supported Judd. Wilby and the return of Nichols, five for 25, removed Town's tail, although Richard Pengelly (20) hit some good late order runs. Judd remained in dogged mood throughout, finishing undefeated on 40, as Town were finally dismissed for 149. Guy Wilby (52) made an aggressive half century while Leeds-based Gary Clarke (21) chipped in as the visitors raced to 101 for 1 in 23 overs. Chris Board (15) and Bob Hutt (14) batted well before three wickets fell on nelson as the Tompkins XI collapsed to 125 for 8. Overs were never a factor as Steve Beck and Stuart Helps saw their side to a two-wicket victory. Both finishing unbeaten on 14 not out. Dom Pritchard's four for 28 was the pick of the bowling for Town.
