Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Princes Risborough
Nick Board writes:
Nick Board rolled back the years with a superb century which saw Town 2nd's
take maximum points at home to Princes Risborough on saturday. Enjoying a
partnership of 215 for the fourth wicket with Lee Tomlinson, who hit an excellent
ninety one, Town reached the target with an over to spare.
However, it had not all been straightforward as Town found themselevs three
wickets down for eleven runs in the fifth over when Risborough opening bowler
Brooker (4-71) tore through Thatcher, Jones and Talsania in quick succession.
When left handers Tomlinson and Board came together they needed 217 to win
from the remaining forty five overs and at drinks still need to score at
six an over to secure the win. Gradually, they took the game away from the
opposition by forcing quick singles and finding the boundary regularly and
when Tomlinson was caught behind with two runs needed the job was complete
and Town eased home with ten balls remaining.
Earlier, Risborough had been inserted against Town's opening attack of Ryan
Spragg and Dom Pritchard(3-61), the latter bowling a great spell off spin
and was unlucky not to have returned better figures due to dropped chances.
R Morton(57) and R Griffen(48) accelerated the visitor's innings to reach
227-6 at tea, Vish Valambhia and Paul Sly picking up a wicket each.
