Challow and Childrey vs Buckingham Town

Andy Bone writes:
Sohail Nasir graced his debut for Buckingham Town with a century in the drawn game at second placed Challow and Childrey on Saturday.

The Rawalpindi opening batsman signed for the Bourton Road club just four days before the game.

He was one of a number of changes from the team that was beaten by Dinton seven days earlier. Rob Large was missing due to work commitments.

Mike Taylor and Graham Judd, who have both been performing with the second string. were promoted along with Krishan Talsania, a left arm seamer who plays for the club's U15 team and Northants U15 side.

Skipper James Gear won the toss and elected to bat with Sohail and Taylor (7) adding 41 for the opening wicket before Dan Harris (37) enjoyed a spell at the crease which saw Town add another 78 runs.

With Town set and Sohail looking classy as he reached a fine half century on debut, James Tomlinson - top scorer the previous week - batted well as Town closed in on reaching the 200-mark.

Tomlinson (38) enjoyed his knock as Gear (29) entered the proceedings to see Sohail reach a debut century before the newcomer was finally out for 107.

Town posted 267 for 6, their highest total of the season so far.

Talsania took a debut wicket in his first over opening the bowling as Town soon reduced the home side to 30 for 2.

Australian Ellison (84) , the top batsman in the league this year, was dropped in his thirties before he and Konshel (45) added a century stand.

Gear's introduction saw him remove both players while Sohail's five overs of off breaks bagged a wicket.

The home side, who kept chasing as Town competed in the field, finished up on 228 for 8 from their 50 overs.

Skipper Gear can take many positives from a good performance and needs the same level of commitment and consistency with seven games remaining if Town are to avoid relegation.

Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Challow and Childrey 2nd XI

Nick Board writes:
Skipper Nick Board completed a fine allround team performance against Challow steering them to maximum points with an undefeated seventy seven.

With recent form improving, Town laid down the challenge asking Challow to bat first on a flat Bourton Road wicket although it took until the sixteenth over before the breakthrough came when Vish Valambhia had Dimbylow (31) caught when the score was on 50.

Ryan Spragg bowled a tight spell of eleven overs for twenty nine runs and was supported well by the improving off spinner Dom Pritchard. However, the return to action and form of Paul Sly (4-51) was the turning point as he rattled through the Challow middle order with only Phillips(33) showing any real resistance. At the half way stage, Challow had set 183 8 to chase.

After tea, Town got off to the start they didn't want when Ed Jones was bowled by Cox on the fourth ball of the innings but this brought together the left handed duo of Lee Tomlinson and Nick Board who took the game away from Challow with a partnership of 109 runs before Tomlinson(51) was caught behind off the bowling of Phillips in the twenty third over. John Merrill (16) maintained the momentum but when he departed it was left to Valambhia (13 no) to form the final partnership with Nick Board (77 no) to secure victory for the loss of four wickets.
