Buckingham Town vs Kidlington

Adam Bone writes:
Buckingham Town went down to runaway Oxford Times Cherwell Cricket League leaders Kidlington on Saturday by five wickets.

Import paceman Ross Lupton ripped through the home side's batting as his seven for 36 in 16.4 overs saw Town removed for just 97.

Rob Large (31) impressed with the bat while Dan Harris (18), Matt Arnull (14) and Charles Ramson (11) were the only other players to reach double figures.

In reply, Kidlington openers James and Ali took them to 63 before the introduction of Ramson's slow left arm had Ali caught by Leigh Tomlinson.

Skipper James Gear bowled from the Bourton Road end and immediately saw Kidlington lose quick four wickets for just five runs. Vish Valambhia accepted two chances at mid on, Gear trapped Lupton in front and Leigh Tomlinson took a superb full length catch diving to his left which will not be bettered this season.

Rana and Gubbins helped Kidlington overcome their wobble to see their side home by five wickets as Gear finished with four for 13 in seven overs.

With Town not batting seventeen of their overs, an extra thirty runs would have made for a very interesting game. Something Town's young guns are fast learning.

Didcot vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI

Nick Board writes:
Town 2nd X1's middle order piled on the runs away to Didcot on saturday which included an undefeated half century from Russell Thompson.

Batting first Mike Taylor(66) maintained his superb form having already scored over four hundred runs this season and was supported well by Graham Judd(20) and John Merrill(23) and with twenty overs remaining were well poised for a big total. After an unsure start to his innings, Thompson (56) unleashed a series of big hits which included six fours and a six and together with the promising Krishan Talsania (18) added fifty three runs for the sixth wicket.

Although losing Dominic Pritchard first ball, the momentum was maintained by Ben Stafford (17) who shared a partnership of fifty runs with Thompson and pushed the score to an impressive 244 for seven wickets at tea. Pick of the bowlers for Didcot was Richardson who bowled fifteen overs for forty seven runs, taking two wickets.

Town got the start they needed when Pritchard was run out by Richard Pengelly in the third over and runs were then restricted on the two paced wicket. Jones(62) provided the anchor role for Didcot until he was removed by Dom Pritchard.

The introduction of Graham Judd into the attack saw a further three wickets fall taking his total haul to twenty at the half way stage in the season, although together with the lively Talsania they were unable to remove the tail as Didcot batted out for the draw.
