Buckingham Town U14 vs North Crawley U14
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town won a good game of cricket in the U14 Shires
League, at home to perennial rivals North Crawley. The visitors
were previously unbeaten this season in either this competition or
the Bucks League.
Town's top five all played steadily to reach double figures, led
by Nick Wilkes (44) and Dilshan Direkze (22), before the batters
got tied down at the end of the innings to finish on 133 for 7
from 25 overs. This was probably about the par score, playing to
full size boundaries against accurate bowling and defensive field
settings.
In reply, Jack Deal and Toby O'Neill opened up with 8 tight overs
to put the visitors behind the rate. The pressure was maintained
by Max Jarman and Harsh Jethra. Then Direkze, whose decision to
revert to off spin was rewarded with figures of 3-4 from 3 overs,
and Tom Hill with 2-28 from 6 restricted North Crawley to 104-9,
assisted by good ground fielding and five close catches. O'Neill
held onto two spectacular dives, Rob How caught two and Rob Laird
one, while Wilkes and keeper Ali Shaw combined well for a run out.
