Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Long Marston
Nick Board writes:
Skipper Nick Board led Town seconds home to victory with an unbeaten 34
at home against Long Marston.
Earlier the visitors had been asked to bat on a damp wicket and openers Demain(27)
and Bowls(20) put on 67 for the first wicket although they found the bowling
of Spragg and Valambhia difficult to dominate set up a solid platform from
which to accelerate.
The introduction of Bryn Jones (2-25) into the attack
saw his away swing remove to batsmen in quick succession but this brought
Lyons (59) to the crease who gave Marston a real chance by hitting six fours
and a six. Graham Judd (3-42) continued his run of good form with ball, which
included the dismissal of Lyons and with Richard Pengelly (1-11) prevented
the tail from accelerating. At tea Long Marston had reached 178 all out.
Marston decided on the spin option to restrict Town the openers but Mike
Taylor(46) continues to score heavily and although he lost his partner Talsania
early developed good partnerships with bry Jones(21), Graham Judd (21) and
Ed Jones(20).
However, Beesley's (5-60) slow left arm was regularly picking
up wickets and with ten overs remaining forty runs were still needed although
Town had four wickets in hand. Working the ball around into the gaps, enabled
a series of quickly run singles to be taken and with four fours Nick Board
(34 no) saw Town through to victory with two overs to spare and to take maximum
points.

Aylesbury 2nd XI vs Buckingham Town 3rd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 3rds won their third league match in a row
beating Aylesbury 2nds by 4 wickets.
Skipper Hutt won the toss and put Aylesbury into bat on a damp
wicket and they lost three early wickets. C. Andrews(47) and
Mark(19) looked threatening until Paul Sly got them both out to
finish with 5-9.
Opening bowlers Chris Colbourn and Lee Hayes both bowled well and
Russell Thompson took three excellent catches and Dilshan Direkze
produced a good piece of fielding to gain a run out.
Buckingham were 23-3 and in trouble but Direkze(26) and
Hutt(12) put on valuable runs as Buckingham won by 4 wickets.
