Buckingham Town U14 vs Wolverton U14
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town gained a second win in their Shires U14 League
campaign with a 66 run margin over Wolverton.
Playing at Preston Bissett, Town lost an early wicket and were
tied down by good bowling, reaching only 37 for 1 after 11
overs. Having played watchfully until then, Harsh Jethra (65) and
Toby O'Neill (57) hit some powerful drives as they accelerated
rapidly and put on 100 for the second wicket. With good running
from Josh Goodey (8 not out) and some fine hitting from Rob Laird
(15 not out in two overs), the score climbed to 165 for 4 at the
completion of the 25 overs.
The visitors never threatened to match this run rate and finished
on 99 for 4, largely thanks to a tenacious unbeaten 56 from opener
W Growitt. Tom Hill (2-11 from 4 overs) and Luke Stafford (1-7
from 3) were the pick of the bowlers, while Rob How and Josh Goff
combined for a smart run-out.
