Buckingham Town U15 vs Brackley B (South Northants League)
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town (2nd in the table behind Brackley A) were well
tested by Brackley B (3rd) in the South Northants U15 league.
Brackley's opening bowlers, M Corns and under 13 leg-spinner
Tom Seckington, each took an early wicket and probed the batsmen's
defences in tight opening spells, to restrict Town to only 34 for
2 after 8 overs. However, Josh Goff (53 retired) and Dilshan
Direkze (50 retired), having carefully played themselves in, then
started to go for their shots and took the score to 132 for 4 in
their 20 overs, with useful support from Tom Jones (10) towards
the end.
In reply Brackley lost an early wicket to Jonny Neeves (1-7 from 3
overs) but were still in with a chance at 44 for 2 after 9
overs. They then lost a flurry of wickets to under 13 Callum Cater
(5-26 from 5) and Josh Goodey (3-13 from 3), assisted by three
catches each from Jones behind the stumps and Direkze at mid-off
(two of them outstanding efforts from full blooded
drives). Despite 29 from D Barnes and 20 not out from S Jaffe,
Brackley finished 35 short on 97 for 9.
