Buckingham Town U14 vs Beaconsfield U14
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town U14s won an exciting friendly match, edging home
by two wickets in the last over against Beaconsfield, who won last
year's Bucks U13 league and cup double after narrowly pipping Town
in the league semi final.
Playing this time at Preston Bissett, Town held Beaconsfield to
129 for 7 in 25 overs (H Wood 40 retired). Good fielding yielded
one run out and six catches, giving wickets to bowlers Max Jarman,
Nick Wilkes (2), Josh Goodey and Ollie Collins (2).
In reply Town were at first pinned down by accurate fast bowling,
before the run rate was brought back on target by a third wicket
stand of 57 between Dilshan Direkze (42 retired) and Stuart Powell
(24). Then, despite a batting collapse in which offspinner M
Dacuna took 4-23, Wilkes (29 not out) steered the tail to safety,
helped for the last four overs by sensible running from Jack
Robbins.
