Buckingham Town U15 (South Northants League) vs Byfield
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town made a good start to their South Northants U15
league campaign with an 88 run win at Byfield.
Jamie Hirst (50 retired) gave Town a flying start with
partnerships of 73 in 8 overs with Nick Wilkes (27) and 51 in 5
overs with Dilshan Direkze (24). Then Harsh Jethra (16) and Rob
How (15) kept the momentum going as Town finished their 20 overs
on 163 for 6, a useful score against good bowling on a damp pitch
and slow outfield.
The home side's reply was quickly stifled by economical spells
from Stuart Powell (6 runs from 4 overs), whose left arm spin was
the pick of the bowling, and Jethra (1 for 6 from 3). The spin
theme continued with Andy Norman, Josh Goodey and Dryden Williams
also taking wickets, while Hirst and Goodey took good catches, as
the innings closed on 75 for 4.
Notable performances for the home side came from James Wilson, who
celebrated his county call up with 2-38 and 18 runs, and J Fox
with a double wicket maiden in his 3-33 and a score of 19.
