Horley U15 vs Buckingham Town U15 (South Northants League)
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town won a good contest by 25 runs in their South
Northants U15 league match at Horley, after the hosts were up with
the run rate for most of their innings.
Put in to bat, Town's top order provided their habitual solid
platform, reaching 79 for 2 after 10 overs thanks to Nick Wilkes's
partnerships with Jamie Hirst (13) and Stuart Powell (12). After
Wilkes retired on 50 in the 14th over, Harsh Jethra (17 not out)
and Josh Goodey (11 not out) pushed the score along to 141 for 4.
In reply, Horley were well on track at 81 for 2 after 12 overs but
were then slowed down by lost wickets and finished on 116 for
7. Town fielded tidily and took all their chances. Stand-in keeper
Dilshan Direkze had an excellent game with two smart run-outs and
a stumping, Jethra took a catch and a run-out and Andy Norman a
running catch. Jonny Neeves was the pick of the bowlers with 2
wickets for 13 from 5 overs, while Danny Hobden also took two and
Goodey one.
For the hosts, S Pearce and J Nunnelly played particularly well,
each scoring 36 and taking wickets, with Pearce's figures 3-23 off
5.
