Tom Jones dominated an opening partnership of 68 in 8 overs with some sparkling strokes before retiring on 52. Then Harsh Jethra (18), Stuart Powell (23) Arqam Akhtar (17), Jack Robbins (13*) and Nick Wilkes (10*) took the total to 145 for 4. The hosts kept up with the run rate at first, reaching 42 from 6 overs thanks to six boundaries from Willis Croft, but they were held back by man of the match Max Jarman (5-26) who had all the top five batsmen caught in 4 overs of pacy swing bowling. Wilkes then took a miserly 3-3 from 4 overs as Toby O'Neill brought his catch tally to three. Jethra and Jones combined well for a run-out to complete the wicket-taking as Towcester closed on 78-9. |
