MK Park vs Buckingham Town
Andy Bone writes:
Buckingham Town are top of the F.G.Watts Northamptonshire
Challenge League after defeating MK Park by six wickets on sunday
but stay third in the Oxford Times Cherwell League Division One
after suffering a 14-run defeat against the same side a day
earlier.
Jimad Khan ripped out the MK Park top order on sunday with three
for 7 in a six over spell while put stand-in skipper Leigh
Tomlinson's side on top from the start.
Steve Beck's two for 24 from nine overs helped keep Town on top
but it was young Callum Cater who took the prize wicket of MK Park
dangerman Sprittles courtesy of a Greg Pearson catch.
Paddy Rathbone hit a fine half century from the number seven berth
before he was run out and it was James Tomlinson's two for 19 that
saw MK Park dismissed for 128 all out.
Town's reply was lead by Rob Pritchard who, after losing two
partners with the score on 21, shared a stand of 88 with Pearson,
who hit eight fours in his innings of 45.
Pritchard batted with maturity as he carried his bat and finished
undefeated on 38, although it was late call up John Pengelly who
rolled back the years to hit five off just two balls, including
the winning runs.
The result leaves Town in prime position to be in the last four
and a place in the F.G.Watts Play-off Cup at the end of the
season.
Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Crawley Green Nomads 1st XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds suffered a heavy defeat in their sunday
friendly against a very strong Crawley Green Nomads 1st XI side.
The Herts side scored a massive 305-5 from their 40 overs.
Buckingham's colt bowlers did however bowl very well against some
good experienced batsmen.
Adam Bone, Rob Laird, Jonny Neeves, and Luke Stafford did well
with the ball and Matt Coxhill also picked up a wicket.
Buckingham made a respectable reply with 161-6 and colts Adam
Bone(30) and Rob Laird 23n.o. batted well and Kevin Desilva(26)
chipped in with useful runs. Stuart Helps looked in good form with
46n.o.
All the Town's colts did very well throughout a very hot day.
