Buckingham Town U15 vs Byfield U15 (South Northants Cup)

Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town came within an ace of losing their unbeaten record in South Northants competitions, beating Byfield by one wicket in the last over of the third game of the round robin stage of the South Northants U15 Cup in a game played at Preston Bissett.

Byfield made a competitive 102 for 4 thanks largely to watchful knocks from Mike Darby (26) and David Jobbins (27). In reply, Town's Tom Jones (27) started brightly before being stumped off leg-spinner R Biggs (3-23), who took further wickets to spark a mid order collapse. Then man of the match Dilshan Direkze (24 not out) kept a cool head to guide the tail towards the target, before ending an exciting match with a lofted drive for four.

Buckingham Town U14 vs Westbury U14 (Bucks Cup)

Andy Bone writes:
Buckingham Town U14s completed a memorable treble of county cups as they defeated Westbury U14s by 16 runs in a great advert for cricket in North Bucks.

Jack Deal lead from the front as he scored an impressive 76 runs opening the batting for Town.

The impressive Deal found his fellow Town players Adam Bone (13) and Callum Cater (20) excellent support as they put the home side's bowling to the sword.

Jack Bridges one for 15, Tom Stephenson one for 3 and Michael Platt-Martin one for 28 all bowled well while Westbury's young wicketkeeper Josh Sutton performed with aplomb behind the timbers.

Town closed on 169 for 5 with Westbury bowling 34 wides in the field. A total that told later in the match.

In reply, Westbury openers Ben Sutton and Alex Walters batted very well as they laid a platform for their side to build from.

Walters eventually fell for 45, while Sutton went on to make a deserved half century before finally being out for 53.

Bridges (16) was out forcing the pace and Westbury found the total just too much as Town's Rob Laird, two for 27, and Stevie Brunning, one for 15, took the pace off the ball and this had the desired effect. Westbury closed on 153 for 5.

Paul Hill's side are now county champions for the second year running and it was captain Callum Cater who lifted the Marlow Park Shield. The rest of the side was Tom Hill, Jack Deal, Adam Bone, Callum Cater, Rob Laird, Peter Stanford, Stevie Brunning, Luke Stafford, Alistair Shaw and Josh Mallett.

Cublington U12 vs Buckingham Town U12 (Bucks Cup)

Andy Bone writes:
Buckingham Town lifted the Bucks U12 Cup after defeating Cublington on their own ground by four wickets.

Cublington's openers put on 43 for the opening wicket but they proceeded to lose three quick wickets for just two runs as Ben Cater's two for 8 did the damage.

With Cublington looking set to make a good total, Frank Johnson came back on and took a stunning hat-trick that put the home side on the back foot. Johnson finished with three for 8.

Dan Major and James Beesley both chipped in with wickets as Cublington posted 73 for 8 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Josh Whitehead opened the innings and played a classy anchor role as other Town players chipped in.

When Whitehead (28) was finally removed it was left to Captain Cater (10 not out) to strike some lusty blows to take his side to victory and lift the cup for John Pengelly's team.

Town's team was Josh Whitehead, Chris Guy, Josh Hill, Frank Johnson, Ben Cater, Jake Mallett, James Beesley, Richard de Mellow, Dan Major, Imran Moman and Alex Sly.
