Penn & Tyler's Green vs Buckingham Town U15 - Bucks Cup Final
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town won the Bucks U15 cup by 8 wickets at Penn &
Tyler's Green, after an attempt to play at Bourton Rd on 5 July
had been rained off with Town on 49-2 from 8 overs (Nick Wilkes
28*).
This time Penn elected to bat. Jonny Neeves removed their danger
man in the third over with help from a catch by Josh Goff at mid
wicket, then a succession of batsmen made a start but were out
before they could become established. The fielders took every
chance offered - 5 catches, a stumping and a run-out - with
wicket-keeper Tom Jones involved in four of the dismissals, as
further wickets fell to Toby O'Neill, Harsh Jethra, Adam Bone (2)
and Stuart Powell (2). The innings closed on 106-8.
Town's openers went cheaply but Jamie Hirst (49*) and Dilshan
Direkze (23*) saw off the opening bowlers before accelerating to
reach the target with four overs to spare. Direkze ended the match
with an off drive for six.
The win qualifies Town for the National U15 Club Championship, the
first round being against Harrold Cricket Club from Bedfordshire
at Bourton Rd on 16 July.
