Buckingham Town U15 vs Wicken (South Northants League)
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town continued their unbeaten run in the South
Northants U15 league with a 71 run win against Wicken at Preston
Bissett.
Town's Harsh Jethra (34) and Dilshan Direkze (30) started
carefully against accurate bowling from Anthony Carver and Tom
North, before accelerating to 66 in 12 overs. Rob Laird (11) and
Toby O'Neill (11) kept the momentum going before Nick Wilkes (26
not out) drove 6 fours in a 10 ball cameo to close the innings on
131 for 5. Alex Vaughan-Fowler bowled straight for his two
wickets, while Andrew Humphries found sharp turn and good control
with his leg spin.
Wicken were never up with the run rate but applied themselves well
to finish their 20 overs on 60 for 9 (St John Karssens 16). Josh
Goodey nipped the ball in to remove the leg stump three times in
his 4 for 21, while Wilkes took 2 for 6 with off spin. Josh
Mallett (1-11) and Luke Stafford (0-4) bowled accurately, Stafford
starting with three maidens. The wicket taking was completed by
two run-outs, a direct hit by Tom Jones and a smart throw by
Direkze to O'Neill.
