Buckingham Town U15 vs Marlow Park U15 (Bucks County Cup)
Chris Wilkes writes:
Buckingham Town progressed to the Bucks U15 cup final with a nine
wicket win over Marlow Park.
Town put their visitors in and had an early setback when opening
bowler Jonny Neeves pulled up with an injury. Toby O'Neill (0-11)
and Harsh Jethra (2-17) then bowled tidy spells to restrict the
score to 31 for 2 from 8 overs. The visitors attacked the bowling
but their acceleration was held back by the regular fall of
wickets. O'Neill ran out the opening batsman.
Stuart Powell (3-30)
caused a lot of difficulty with left arm spin and was unlucky to
concede so many runs as the visitors hit out riskily. U14 Adam
Bone (1-11) troubled the batsmen with his pace and Josh Goodey
(1-5) bowled a good length. Nonetheless the innings finished on
96-8 to set a testing target.
Town's openers batted responsibly, defending and leaving where
necessary but scoring freely off anything loose. Nick Wilkes hit
some crisp back foot drives and cuts before being run out for 28,
out of an opening stand of 44 in 7 overs.
With a solid foundation
and already ahead of the required rate, Josh Goff (35 not out) and
Dilshan Direkze (21 not out) kept the score moving comfortably,
mainly in singles, before Direkze hit three boundaries to reach
the target with more than three overs to spare.
Town will play Burnham or Penn & Tyler's Green in the final.
