Town U16's were narrowly defeated to Stony Stratford by 11 runs,
after dominating large parts of the game.
You could tell it was the first match of the season as Stony
Stratford, batting first, got a flying start with 60ish runs off
the first 7 overs. Then Town started to realize what talent they
possessed and started bowling and fielding to a very high standard
with Matt Faulkner and Andy Norman bowling extremely tightly with
Rob Pritchard the pick of the bowling with 1-3. Chris Coxhill also
picked up 2 wickets. Stony finished the 20 overs on 127-5.
The task was still not easy as light was fading and Oshy threw 3
of the 4 practice balls into the cover water. Rob Pritchard,
opening the batting, stuck to the task and made 52 including a
fine array of shots on off and leg side after riding his luck
early on, being dropped at least 3 times. Town's middle order did
not contribute much with all most batsmen getting off the mark in
style, but then throwing their wicket away going for the big one.
A late flurry from Andy Norman (15) was not enough to steer
Buckingham home and after Simon, trying desperately to find a
helmet, had got his hands on a lid, Buckingham ran out of
deliveries and finished 11 runs short of the mark (116-9). Town
finished up with 6 Bonus Points (4 batting and 2 bowling).
Shot Of The Night: Rob Pritchard - Flat six landing on the
pavilion roof.
Next up for Town U16's are fierce rivals North
Crawley (Home), 6.15pm start, Thursday 18th May.
