Excellent all-round performances from Andy Norman and Chris Coxhill were somehow not enough to prevent losing to North Crawley by 8 wickets.

After winning the toss and batting (to the of most of the side - yes applauding me is too far!), Buckingham lost 2 quick wickets but fought back with Chris Coxhill, opening the batting and Andy Norman, at number 4, put on an amazing half-century partnership. Both played a great selection of shots to all parts of the ground. Chris finally fell unluckily backing up for 36 and Andy went to a great diving catch for 35.

Contributions from the middle order saw Town reach a very respectable 123-5 off 20 overs. Norman and Coxhill were the stars of the bowling also with Norman having figures of 1-9 off 4 overs and Coxhill 1-14 off his 24-ball allotment. Unfortunately, other contributions were not as strong and North Crawley, guided by the usual suspects "Ginger" and "Slogger", who got the runs with an over to spare. Town fielded very well on the whole even though it was one of those cold, windy evenings with Oshy being the pick, taking a good catch and stopping runs spectacularly throughout.

On the whole, it was a great effort from the lads and there is definite potential for the rest of the season (at least I hope this encouragement spurs them on!) Fines were given to Andy Norman for turning up in an Italian football shirt and James Coxhill for wearing a Marsh Gibbon cricket shirt throughout the match. Town finished up with 6 Bonus Points (5 batting and 1 bowling).

Shot Of The Night: Andy Norman - Pull shot for six into the trees.

Next up for Town U16's is a tricky away fixture at Wolverton, 6.15pm start, Thursday 25th May.
