Buckingham Town U15 vs Badby U15 (South Northants League)
Chris Wilkes writes:
After so many matches had been lost to the weather, Badby and
Buckingham Town decided to persist with their South Northants U15
League fixture at Buckingham despite intermittent showers and were
rewarded with a good game, the home side winning by 46 runs in a
match reduced to 18 overs by rain.
Badby won the toss and opted to bowl. Town openers Nick Wilkes
(14) and Josh Goff (20) made their customary lively start before A
Deary (2-19 off 4 overs) had them both caught off mis-timed
pulls. More wickets followed and Town were in trouble at 48 for 5
at the half way stage before Harsh Jethra (21) and Stuart Powell
(30 not out) played sensibly and rescued the innings to 107 for 7,
a respectable score on a slow outfield with full adult
boundaries. Billy Hallet took 2-19 from 4.
Needing to score at a run a ball Badby tried to force the pace too
early and were reduced to 6 for 3 after two overs by accurate
bowling from Jethra (1-13 from 4) and Toby O'Neill (2-20 from
4). A Deary (14) and W Brooks (19) resisted solidly but eventually
further wickets fell to Josh Goodey (3), Powell and Arqam Akhtar
as the innings closed on 61 for 8.
