Buckingham Town U15 vs Willen (Bucks Cup)
Nick Wilkes writes:
On a warm Wednesday evening Buckingham Town U15’s travelled to
Preston Bissett for their second round Bucks cup tie against
Willen. Buckingham won the toss, elected to bat and got off to a
steady start, reaching 31-1 after 7 overs.
From this point on
Town began to accelerate. During the next 8 overs Town put on 90
runs before Dilshan Direkze (58) was caught after a speedy and
powerful knock, including 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Direkze’s departure did not slow the scoring rate, as Town
continued to dominate the bowling. Jack Deal (22) batted very well
supporting Nick Wilkes, who smashed 100 not out, including 10
fours and 4 sixes, reaching his century with one ball to go. At
the end of the innings Buckingham had reached a daunting 203-3
after their 20 overs.
Willen lost early wickets, reaching 26-6 after 11 overs, thanks
to excellent bowling from Adam Bone (3-4), Harsh Jethra (1-10) and
Jonny Neeves (2-4). Their late order batsman held out against
tight bowling, losing only two further wickets, to Tom Hill (1-11)
and Rob How (1-5). Willen finished on 63-8, losing by a
comprehensive 140 run margin.
Buckingham now progress to the third round where they will face
Tring Park.
