Andy Norman and Chris Coxhill write:
Buckingham under 16's glorious season finally came to a close when
the team collected the Hair Moda League Trophy from the league
chairman at Bourton Road.
An enthusiastic crowd was in attendance
to witness the climax of the team's last and most successful
season ever. A great night was had by all and 12 player awards
were given to the team as well as individual awards for batting,
bowling and manager's player. The batting award went to Rob
Pritchard; John Smith collected the bowling trophy while Captain
Andy Norman picked up the manager's player of the year award.
After winning the county title, the team progressed through a
further 2 rounds before losing in the quarter final of the Lord's
Taverners National Tournament against a strong Swindon side. This
last 8 finish in the country has been the highlight of the boys'
cricketing career and they modestly owe their success to their
fantastic team spirit and not just individual performance.
On presentation, skipper Andy Norman commented on a few players,
who throughout the season played a vital role in the team's
success. They were: Matt Faulkner - the only player to play all 14
games, Chris Coxhill (Vice) - a consistent bowler and integral
part of the team's success, Rob Pritchard - the team's top run
scorer, averaging well over 50 and now an established second team
player, Harsh Jethra - promising under 15 who has taking the third
XI by storm this season with his all-round abilities & Oshy
Ryan-Pont - expert fielder who always turns up and gives his best
every game.
The team would like to thank Colin Piggott and Richard Pengelly
for their fantastic coaching of the team over the last 2 seasons.
