Banbury 2nd XI vs Buckingham Town 1st XI
Andrew Holland writes:
Town cruise back to the top!
With the top two sides meeting at Banbury on Saturday there seemed
to be a good game in the offing. Banbury's Captain Wayne Hazell
won the toss, and to many peoples surprise, batted first. Opening
batsman Andrew Sabin and Ed Phillips made a solid enough start
however; able to give respect to the accurate Greg Pearson as
youngster Lawrence D'Silva struggled, conceding almost 6 runs an
over in his 6 over spell. James Gear found the first wicket though
when he came on and had Sabin caught for 25. Pearson followed that
up by knocking the number 3's stumps over and Banbury were 62-2
after 19 overs. This brought Chris Board who went about the
re-building process with Phillips. Although the partnership was
slow starting, they both increased the rate as the score rose and
as the last 10 overs began had almost reached a 100 stand at
160-2. The platform was set for a decent last 10 overs and the
batsman didn't disappoint with 43 coming from the next 5 overs. It
was then that Buckingham finally hit the stumps though as skipper
Rob Large ran out Phillips for 99. Gear then claimed 2 more run
outs to leave Banbury 220-5 after 48 overs. Board was then stumped
off the pad of keeper Rob Pritchard for 62 before James Gear took
a second wicket to leave Banbury 227-7 from their 50 overs.
In reply Buckingham couldn't have had a worse start as a terrible
"yes/no" mix up between Rob Large and Leigh Tomlinson left them
both in the middle of the pitch and Banbury completed the run
out. Having made 4 fifties in a row Leigh Tomlinson out for 9 was
just what Banbury needed. After that the bowling never really
threatened though. Large and new batsman Dan Harris both scored
quickly and added 104 from just 20 overs before Harris chipped
down the throat off the fielder in the deep for 47 from 57
balls. Although Rob Large reined himself in and concentrated in
not giving the home side any more points Jimad Khan was again in
fantastic form as he hammered the ball all around the ground. He
made 80 from just 71 balls, including a huge 6 to end the
game. Large ended on 75 not out, his second 50 of the season and
showing that he was back to form.

Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Princes Risborough 1st XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds lost to Princes Risborough 1sts by 34
runs. With injuries and players not available many changes were
made from the previous week and Nev Pritchard took over from the
unavailable Graham Judd.
Town had 10 men and whilst waiting hoping he would arrive later,
inserted Risborough who scored a modest 188-6. For Town Richard
Pengelly took 4-57 from 13 overs. Also from 13 overs Dom Pritchard
took 2-39. Ryan Spragg bowled tidily with 0-20 from his 12 overs.
Town made a steady start through Mike Taylor(20) and Afridi
Rashid(34) and whilst Dom Pritchard(16) and Dilshan Direkze(10)
score useful runs Town slumped and apart from Ryan Spragg(24)
batting well at No. 10 they generally struggled with the bat and
being a player short probably cost Town victory.

Cropredy 2nd XI vs Buckingham Town 3rd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 3rds lost by 8 wickets to Cropredy 2nds. Town
batted first after being inserted and made a steady start through
A. Freeman(52) and then John Talbot (63) improved matters before a
collapsed saw Town close on a reasonable 180-8.
Cropredy lost a couple of quick wickets but ran out comfortable
winners.
With players not available Town were short in the bowling
department and replied on four -15's mainly who all did
well. Robert Davis made his debut and showed promise whilst Callum
Cater was the pick of the bowling.
36 wides and 4 no-balls from Town's bowlers did not help matters.
