Buckingham Town vs Stony Stratford
Andrew Holland writes:
Town ease past Stony Stratford Jonny Cater won the toss
in bright sunshine and had no hesitation in batting first. Things
didn't go all Buckingham's way however as Pete Mitchell bowled
with great accuracy, eventually taking the wicket of James
Tomlinson for 7. After that, Stony Stratford rarely got a look in
as Leigh Tomlinson and Cater batted with measured aggression and
lifted the home side past 100. Trouble struck though when Cater
went for a big swing and twisted his knee. Out came a runner and
although he managed to reach 50, the inevitable run out
arrived. After that only one partnership really showed any
substance as Leigh Tomlinson passed 50 and Khan smashed 26 off 15
balls. Wickets fell constantly, with 3 ducks being registered,
before Buckingham ended their 40 overs on 207. Mitchell finished
with fine figures of 4 for 30 from 9 overs.
Although Stony Strafford felt they could chase the total, that
thought soon disappeared as Lawrence D'Silva bowled 6 overs with
figures of 3 for 7. Beck then chipped in with 2 wickets and Stony
Stratford were 43-5. Opening bowler Mitchell and captain Pickles
offered some resistance but it seemed futile. When Hill removed
Mitchell the game was over. Pickles went on to pass 50 but wickets
continued to fall. A brief flurry of 21 from number 9 Winkworth
helped give some respectability to the score, but in the end Stony
Stratford fell 48 runs short.

Grendon Underwood vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds travelled to Grendon Underwood
for a sunday friendly.
Unlike their normal format of
40 overs each skipper Hutt went along with the hosts request
for a 20/20 style game.
Grendon batted first and on a slow
outfield scored a useful 122-3 with openers S. Christie(49)
and C. Kendrick(41n.o.) in good form.
Young Josh Whitehead
took 2-11 and Luke Stafford 1-21.
Town with ten men against Grendon's nine started slowly and
lost opener Wilkinson(19) in the eighth over.
With the score
at 48-1 after 12 overs Town had it all to do to win.
However
a sparkling 72 n.o. from Dilshan Direkze saw Town win with an
over to spare.
Dilshan was well supported by Josh Whitehead
16n.o.
