Buckingham Town I v Shipton I
Andrew Holland writes:
Town go top as Khan Shines
Having suffered a heavy defeat the week before Buckingham came
into the home fixture against second bottom side Shipton wanting a
win. Rob Large won the toss, and despite conditions being good for
batting, inserted the opposition. That was to be the only success
for Buckingham in the first hour and half as opening batsman Paul
Hemming and Charles Brain put the pressure on. Greg Pearson kept
some control, but Chris Harris and Ben Stafford were being scored
off at 5 an over. The wides continued from the previous week and
were soon into double figures. It was however Stafford that found
the first wicket. In the 21st over he had Brain caught at mid on
for 29. Hemming continued strongly though, reaching 50 from 65
balls, and built another partnership with Danny Bishop. Eventually
Rob Large turned to Jimad Khan who found the breakthrough, Bishop
lbw for 22. From there Shipton never seemed like offering much
resistance as no one else reached 10. James Gear took 2 wickets
along with a clever run out from Jonny Cater, but Khan stole the
show as he ran through the batting, including the wicket of
Hemming, to finish with 5-39 from 11 overs. Shipton managed to
reach 200-9 in their 50 overs.
201 seemed a fairly straightforward chase but Omar Hussain picked
up the early wickets of Leigh Tomlinson and Jonny Cater to have
Buckingham 48-2. It was therefore barely an hour after his fifth
wicket that Jimad Khan found himself batting. Other than taking 10
balls to get off the mark he went like a train and soon had the
fielders running all over the place. It took just 47 balls for him
to reach 50 and he was soon approaching a 100. It was an innings
full of entertainment as Khan hit 13 fours and 4 big sixes, the
last of which went onto the roofs of the neighbouring houses. It
was Chris Panter in the end that ended his innings though when he
had him caught at point for 92 (73 balls). It was a great innings,
and overshadowed a fine 50 from skipper Rob Large as his return to
form continued. The slow bowling of Hemming then accounted for Dan
Harris first ball before Large holed out at mid-on off
Panter. Adam Izzard and Greg Pearson saw Buckingham home though in
the 40th over in what was always a comfortable victory.

Buckingham Town 2nds lost by 16 runs to league leaders Wolverton
Town 1sts in a match when at won stage Buckingham were well on
top.
Ryan Spragg was in fine form with the ball taking 5-37 and with
Wolverton 63-7 Buckingham were crusing but a late rally saw
Wolverton reach an amazing 184-10. Buckingham were adjudged to
have bowled 37 wides which proved very costly.
Most of Buckingham's batsmen scored a few runs but there was no
major innings as skipper G. Judd(28) and Nev Pritchard(20) top
scorer. Buckingham were at one stage 152-6 but Wolverton just
edged home.
