Buckingham Town vs Bicester & North Oxford I
Andrew Holland writes:
Town crush Bicester!
The Bicester captain was obviously swayed by the weather
conditions at the toss as he won the toss and did the unadvisable
thing of inserting the opposition. It looked a good decision when
out of form Rob Large was bowled for 4. Then after losing a new
ball to a big 6 from Jonny Cater, Steve West had him lbw and
Buckingham were 24-2. Leigh Tomlinson and Dan Harris then provided
a run a ball partnership of 47 before Harris chipped in the air to
go for 23. Both Leigh and James Tomlinson were out in the 40s and
Adam Izzard for 29 as Buckingham moved 193-6 with 5 overs to
go. The end was poor though as 2 ducks followed they finished
204-9 in 50 overs. Bicester were in the end saved by the slower
bowling of Bryan (16 overs, 3-64) and Nat Watkins (15 overs,
3-43), who managed to almost finish their overs in time, losing
just 1 point.
Bicester got off to a slow start as Greg Pearson picked up captain
Woods for 9 in the 6th over to leave them 18-1. Shiv Talsania and
Nat Watkins scored 60 between them to move the score onto 68-1
after 23 overs and the game looked evenly balanced until Pearson
bowled Watkins. From there the game was one sided. 4 overs later
Pearson took 3 wickets in an over, followed by a 6th a few overs
later to leave the score 100-6. Ben Stafford then took a sharp
caught and bowled followed by a plum lbw before Jason Ell finished
with 2 wickets in 3 balls (thanks to 2 sharp stumpings from Cater)
to have Bicester finish 133 all out.

Buckingham win by 71 runs
Bicester & North Oxford 2nd X1 vs Buckingham Town 2nd X1
Neville writes:
Buckingham 2nds earned a hard fought and in the end frustrating
draw with their Bicester counterparts.
Winning the toss Graham Judd elected to bat and Bicester soon had
Buckingham in trouble at 28 for 2. Vish Valambhia (37) and Tom
Jones (36) consolidated the innings well before Graham Savin
removed both of them in quick succession. Savin & Clark took
control for Bicester reducing Buckingham to 116 for 6 before
Neville Pritchard (21) used his experience, well supported by Ryan
Spragg (14), to ensure the 50 overs were used and help set a
reasonable total of 170.
Bicester’s reply never really got going as fine bowling from
Laurence D’Silva (3-37) and Valambhia restricted them to just 38
runs off the first 18overs. D’Silva removed the stubborn Sansome
and a spectacular tumbling catch by Paul Sly to remove Price gave
Buckingham hope of a victory as Richard Pengelly (3-38) and
Dominic Pritchard (2-17) claimed further wickets. Judd rotated his
bowlers well and they were strongly supported by the exceptional
wicket-keeping of Robin Pritchard and good all round
fielding. Savin (33) briefly looked capable of winning the game
for Bicester, though once bowled by D’Silva, Bicester closed up to
bat out the draw with Clark (20) steering them to safety.

Buckingham Town 3rd XI vs Bicester & North Oxford 3rd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Fielding lapses cost Buckingham Town 3rds dear in their league
match against Bicester & North Oxford 3rds.
Skipper Helps put the Oxon side into bat and they managed 223-10.
Andy Payne scored 117 for the visitors but Town put down numerous
chances and Payne took full advantage. Rod Bridgeman, Stuart
Helps, Andy Norman and Callum Cater all took a brace of wickets
apiece and colt Steve Brunning took the remaining wicket as there
was one run out with a smart piece of fielding from Callum Cater.
A much lower total should have been achieved but for dropped
catches.
Buckingham made a spirted reply with Anant Peshavaria(36) and
Nigel Norman (35) giving them a good start after Wilkinson was
adjudged to be lbw.
Colt Josh Whitehead(10) batted well but
Skipper Helps was in superb form cracking 55 (including 3 sixes)
and whilst he was at the wicket Town looked favourites to win but
he was unlucky to be caught.
Davis took 6-47 for Bicester bowling well and Town held onto a
draw at 195-9. Cater was bowled on the first ball of the last over
and colt Steve Brunning did well to survive the last five
deliveries.
