Thame Town vs Buckingham Town
Andrew Holland writes:
Town hit record low
Rain meant that there was no play before lunch at Thame on
Saturday, but the weather cleared up in time for a 2:30 start
meaning a game of 73 overs was possible. Thame lost the toss and
inserted Buckingham into bat. In the absence of opener Rob Large,
a new partnership of Leigh Tomlinson and Jonny Cater opened up for
the visitors. It didn't last too long though as Michael Beard
bowled Tomlinson in the third over for just 4. Sam Lachlan then
took 3 wickets in consecutive overs to remove Bowden, Harris and
Parker so that the score was 22-4 from 10 overs. James Tomlinson
came to the wicket, and together he and Cater tried to rebuild the
innings. Cater went to 24, and was looking in good touch before
returning a catch to Lachlan for his fourth wicket. James Gear
came to the wicket and the next partnership lasted 11 overs, but
with the score only moving onto 61. Jaydeep Bhatti, who had taken
7 wickets against Buckingham previously in the season, broke the
partnership, and started the collapse to the end of the innings as
he took 3 wickets before Lachlan returned to take his
fifth. Buckingham were all out for their lowest Home Counties
score of 68.
Run scoring wasn't much easier for Thame, but the openers put on a
solid 33 to half the total before Dewayne Bowden bowled Beard for
19. The introduction spin saw opener Parmar find the boundary
several times including a lofted 6. He made a good 34 before
falling lbw to spinner Ben Stafford before Bhatti hit the winning
runs.

Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Challow & Childrey 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds maintained top spot in Div 4 of the Cherwell
League with a comfortable six wicket win over Challow & Childrey
2nds.
Town elected to field first and the visitors to Bourton Road were
bowled out for a very modest 141. Opening bowlers Ryan Spragg and
Steve Brunning 1-19 kept matters tight early on and then Stephen
Lewis 2-38 and Chris Coates 2-16 bowled well but the star with the
ball was skipper Dom Pritchard who followed last weeks six wickets
with another excellent spell taking 5-43. After a steady start
Town lost both in-form bats Matt Thacher(10) and Stephen Lewis(28)
but keeper Robin Pritchard saw Town home with a good knock of 63
not out.
