Olney Town B vs Buckingham Wizards
Beverley Helps writes:
Wizards too strong for Olney
The Wizards travelled to Olney to defend their unbeaten record in
the U10's Shires League. Buckingham won the toss and chose to
field. Tight bowling from Ryan Marsden (Capt) and Solomen Janecki
four overs, four maidens with Janecki taking one wicket, saw the
Wizards off to a good start. James Holmes also bowled two
excellent maiden overs and Oliver Plummer-Clark and Jordan Helps
continued to make life hard for the Olney batsmen each taking a
wicket a piece. Eight year old Joe West making his debut for the
Wizards bowled superbly taking two wickets in his two overs , he
was just pipped by the outstanding Joe Robey who bowled two maiden
overs and took two wickets. The Wizards fielding was in good order
with Joe West standing out with Marsden and Robey taking fine
catches. As normal Alistair Martin was in great form behind the
stumps hardly putting a glove wrong. The Olney batsmen worked hard
to post a total of 24.
In reply the Wizards openers Marsden and Janecki played solidly on
an increasingly low wicket, Plummer-Clark and Holmes produced some
fine attacking shots to ease the BTCC past their total. At the
half way stage West and Robey had free reign to play their shots
with West scoring 9 not out and Robey completing a man of the
match performance with a hard hit 16. Helps and Martin also had
some fun with the bat, Martin 9 not out and Helps hitting hard for
20 not out, the Wizards running out comfortable winners.
