Buckingham Wizards vs Old Northamptonians
Beverley Helps writes:
Top Marks for Wizards 10 out of 10!
The Buckingham Town Wizards travelled to Northampton to try and
make it a perfect record in the Under 10's Shire's League. On a
thundery evening BTCC won the toss and asked the Old
Northamptonians to bat. Ryan Marsden (Capt) and Albert Oswald
opened the bowling for the Wizards, Marsden taking one wicket and
both bowling tightly, Oliver Plummer-Clark, Jordan Helps and Joe
Robey struggled to find their best form. Old Northamptonians
batted well with most of the boys being under 9's and started to
set a challenging total, good bowling from Soloman Janecki and an
outstanding spell by Vikram Pandit taking 3 wickets for 5 runs
kept the lid on the ON's total, even Alistair Martin behind the
stumps was not on his A1 game. Chasing a total of 31 Marsden and
Janecki gave the Wizards the perfect start with 23 run opening
partnership for 1 wicket lost. Helps, Clarke and Pandit all found
it hard going with the bat, Oswald and Robey worked hard to keep
the Wizards in charge, the star of the show was Alistair Martin
who returned to his very best form with the bat to score an
excellent 20 not out helping BTCC to secure a perfect 10 out of 10
league record. Although not on their best form the Wizards showed
great team spirit and commitment to each other and are a credit to
Buckingham Town Cricket Club.
This game was sponsored by D & S Helps Builders.
The Wizards now face an excellent Westbury team in the Under 10's
Shire's League Semi Final at BTCC on Tuesday 2nd September. The game
commences from 5pm the clubhouse will be open and all spectators
are welcome.
