Buckingham Town vs Burnham
Andrew Holland writes:
Comfortable win for Town
Rob Large won the toss for the
second game in a row and inserted Burnham in unsettled
conditions. Last time the two teams met at Bourton Road Burnham
were rolled over for just 95, could Buckingham repeat the
performance? The opening bowlers started well with the batsmen
struggling for runs, and Dewayne Bowden struck in the 4th over
with Khan caught in the gully. Leo Churms then had the other
opener caught behind before Burnham captain Mohammed Fazal was
caught in the deep off a no ball. It didn't matter though as 2
balls later he did the same to a legitimate ball and the score was
25-3. From that point on the score failed to get above 2 an
over. The batsmen hung around, but without much success. 2 wickets
in 3 overs from Jason Ell put the visitors in real danger before
Greg Pearson made it 6 down so that the lunch score was 63-6.
Chris Ruane and Harvey Gandam gave some resistance after lunch as
they both reached double figures, but Buckingham always looked
dangerous with both Churms and Bowden adding 2 wickets to their
earlier tally to bowl the visitors out for 89.
The chase never looked in doubt as Rob Large and Leigh Tomlinson
looked comfortable at the wicket. Large hit his way to a 27 ball
50 with 2 massive sixes as he became Buckingham's highest run
scorer in a season in the Home Counties League. Tomlinson scored a
run-a-ball 30 as the winning total of 90 was reached in under 12
overs.
