Buckingham Town vs Kidlington
Andrew Holland writes:
Batsmen find form in win
In an important game featuring
the bottom two in the table Kidlington won the toss and batted
first. The first hour went totally to Buckingham though as the
visitors lost their top order to some excellent bowling which saw
them reduced to 35-5 with Dewayne Bowden and Greg Pearson taking 2
wickets each. Only captain Shazbah Ali showed some resistence as
he began to rebuild the innings. The bowling remained tight, and
the runs were slow, but wickets dried up. Then just before lunch
the sixth wicket fell as James Gear had Kitson caught for 23. That
left the lunchtime score at 84-6, and with Buckingham in control.
After lunch the sun was out and batting appeared to be getting
easier. Pearson added two more wickets to his tally to reduce
Kidlington to 141-8. Ali remained at the wicket though and was
joined by Faisal Chaudhry. Ali reached 50 but it was Chaudhry who
took the attack to the bowlers as he hit 55 from 37 balls with 4
sixes. Greg Pearson finished off a marathon 25 overs with the
wicket of Chaudhry, his fifth, but Ali finished the last few overs
off ending 72 not out with the score 239-9 in 60 overs.
With the Buckingham batsmen out of form 240 was a tough ask,
especially when captain Rob Large was caught for 10 in the third
over. With the batting order reshuffled once again Jonny Cater
joined Leigh Tomlinson in the middle. They batted sensibly and
managed to get through to tea at 58-1 from 15 overs, 182 needed
from 35 overs.
Straight after tea Cater was bowled for 23 which brought Bowden to
the wicket. Leigh Tomlinson continued to battle and brought up a
second 50 of the season from 95 balls, as Buckingham passed the
half way mark only 2 down. A mix up between the batsmen sent
Tomlinson on his way for 52 and Dan Harris came to the wicket with
117 needed from 19 overs. 6 overs later the game had slowed down
and the draw was the most likely result before Bowden found 5
boundaries in one Shazbah Ali over. After that the runs flowed and
the two batsmen shared a partnership off 117 in 91 balls to win
the game with 4 overs to spare. Bowden made 87 from 81 balls and
Harris 47 from 43 balls.

Banbury 20 2nd XI vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds had a disappointing 53 run defeat away
to Banbury 20 2nds.
Banbury won the toss and batted and made a
reasonable 170-9 thanks to the only player who did well with the bat
for them B. Grant(90). It turned out to be a match winning knock.
Grham Judd 4-29 cleaned the tail up.
Ben Stafford and Ryan Spragg
had a brace of wickets apiece and Lawrence D'silva one. Russell
Thompson took a couple of catches one of which was excellent.
Town lost openers M. Taylor and A. Thatcher cheaply as Buckingham
slumped to 64-5 with only Graham Judd(31) in good nick.
Ben Stafford crashed a quick 32 but Town could only make 117 all
out.
R. Spragg (16) was third top scorer as too many of Town's
batsmen had a poor day.
M.Wedderburn 5-20 led Banbury 20 to victory.
