Milton Keynes Park vs Wizards
Beverley Helps writes:
Wizards Cast Their Spell In the Park
On Monday night the
Buckingham Town Wizards continued their winning ways in the under
10's Shires League, with a comfortable win against Milton Keynes
Park. Buckingham lost the toss and were put into bat on a
difficult slow low surface. Openers Ryan Marsden and Albert
Johnson worked hard to provide a solid start, this was continued
by James Holmes and Oliver Plummer - Clark both playing some
excellent strokes. However, the MKP bowlers kept taking wickets
just as Buckingham seemed to be getting on top. When Albert Oswald
and Joe Robey came to the crease the Wizards total was below par,
Oswald played some attacking backfoot shots and Robey dispatched
the bowlers to all parts of the ground to score 23, the pair
putting on an impressive 32 run partnership. The Wizards last two
batsmens Jordan Helps and Alistair Martin kept the pressure on the
MKP bowlers with Helps taking the lead role with a brutal 20 not
out. The Wizards finishing with a total of 103.
Facing such a big total the MKP batsmen were going to struggle,
the Wizards bowlers were always on top with Marsden and Helps
taking a wicket a piece, tight bowling from Martin, Robey and
Johnson kept the pressure on, James Holmes bowled three tight
overs and took one wicket thanks to a brilliant catch by captain
Ryan Marsden. The bowling attack was led by an outstanding spell
from Oliver Plummer - Clark of two overs; one run for three
wickets.
All the Buckingham bowlers were backed up by the tidy Albert
Oswald behind the stumps and the tireless efforts of eight year
old Albert Johnson in the field, who completed an excellent all
round performance.

Merchants.
