Wizards vs Olney Town A
Beverley Helps writes:
A fantastic team performance saw the Wizards come out winners in a
top of the table clash against Olney in the under 10's Shire's
League. Olney batted first and despite their strong batting line
up were always kept in check by some excellent Wizard bowling with
captain Ryan Marsden, Vikram Pandit, Oliver Plummer Clark and
James Holmes all taking important wickets. The pick of the bowlers
was Joe Robey closely followed by eight year old Adam King who was
making his first appearance each taking a wicket a piece. The
glove work of Alistair Martin was faultless behind the stumps and
the Wizards fielding was outstanding, the highlight being Jordan
Helps and Oliver Plummer Clark combining to complete a brilliant
run out with the Wizards restricting Olney to a total of 48. The
opening pair of Marsden and King gave their team a solid
start. Holmes and Plummer Clark edged the Wizards closer to their
total with some brave batting. The stroke play of Robey and Pandit
seemed to have made the game safe for Buckingham. When last pair
Martin and Helps came to the crease they only required three runs
to win, Martin was in fine form with some lovely backfoot
strokes. When the game looked to have been won Helps played two
rash shots to lose his wicket, but the youngster kept his nerve
and in the last over against some hostile fast bowling hooked two
of the last three balls for four to win the game for the Wizards.
