Wizards vs Knights
Beverley Helps writes:
On Monday evening the Buckingham Wizards and the Buckingham
Knights faced each other at Stowe School in the under 10's Shires
League. The Wizards won the toss and asked the Knights to bat.
The Knights batsmen were in attacking form and would not let the
Wizards bowlers settle with Jack Carter, Connor Stygal (Capt),
Jamie Lonergan and Connor Heron playing some impressive
strokes. The Wizards bowlers only managed four wickets, two to
Ryan Marsden (Capt) and one apiece to Vikram Pandit and Jordan
Helps, assisted by an excellent catch by Oliver Plummer-Clark. On
a lively grass wicket the Knights posted a very respectable 42.
All the Wizards batsmen struggled against some excellent bowling
from the Knights with Jack Carter, Jamie Lonergan, Archie Bassett
and Tom Skinner being the pick of the bowlers who were backed up
by Will Freeman behind the stumps. The outstanding fielding by
Matt Cruise was the best the game saw. The Wizards batsmen dug
deep, Oliver Plummer-Clark (24), Jordan Helps (22) and Vikram
Pandit (14) steering the Wizards home to a hard fought victory.
A special mention must go to eight year olds Henry Wilkinson and
Hamish Bassett (Knights) and Joe West and Alfie Robey (Wizards)
who came to support their teams and competed against each other at
the end of each innings. A credit to BTCC.
